Great idea. I really like it when it works. The gear box is of poor quality. It grinds and is very hard to turn. As for the weight cap. I would'nt put 250lbs on it. I have a push mower(75lbs), a full gas can and a small snow blower(30lbs) on it and it grinds and is very hard to move up and down. If they could make a better gear for it I would buy 10 more.

It takes me way too many turns to get the rack raised and lowered. I am only 60 but I have to stop turning and rest my arms before I can get the rack all the way up or down.
It is a good product since I can't climb a ladder but I wish it could have a larger cylinder to hold the cable.

I love this thing, it's great for getting stuff out of sight and out of the way, especially since I don't have one of those oversized garage. My only complaint is that it's hard to turn, but that could very well be because I'm a wimp. On the other hand, I went to lower and raise the unit a couple of weeks after we installed it and it was making some disturbing grinding noise.. we just sprayed some lubricant and it went away, but I'll admit, I parked the cars outside that night, just in case!

Used to raise items off the garage floor to make efficient use of space. Although the lift was advertised for the height of my ceiling, the cables supplied were too short. I had to go buy longer ones before installing to be able to use it.

I purchased two of the RacorPro HeavyLifts and installed them in my garage. They took several hours to install but they are very heavy duty and a nice addition for organizing my garage. They take a few minutes to lower and raise, and I certainly wish they held more weight, but I feel they are well worth the money. I would love to squeeze one or two more in my garage if I could make them fit. [...] had the best price on this product after an extensive search[...]

Very nice product. Not too bad to install, you will need two people and about 3 hours. I am going to get one more. I expect the second installation to take half the time as the first.

This rack works great! While it doesn't say so in the description, you can hang this directly from your rafters. Tons of storage space - really helped clean up my garage. It did take a bit longer to install that I anticipated, but is a fun project for a typical handy homeowner. When fully loaded can be a bit heavy to use the crank to lift it up - I hope the manufacturer comes out with an electronic version![...]

Liked the idea of loading the platform at waist level and then cranking it out of the way next to garage ceiling so that storage was out of sight. At 250 lbs capacity was more than enough for my application. Somewhat difficult to install if doing it alone and needed to be careful to line it up on studs at right distance apart. Go to online instructions from Racor to get better installation instructions. Hand crank of platform when loaded was not very easy and took some time, but don't plan to lower and raise it very often.

Good storage solution. Installation is not a breeze--if I had to do it again I would have a second person present to help.
Raising and lowering action is nice and smooth. But the platform, though level when lowered, tips when raised, since the four cords do not reel up in a perfectly identical manner.

This product allowed me to get a 16' Christmas Tree stored off the floor. The tree splits into 3 sections that easily fit onto the platform. Cranking the handle pulls the tree above the garage door. I wrapped the tree and platform in plastic to keep out the dust.

good product, good construction, not too bad to install- about 2 hours with clean up and testing. Although, if you plan to use it frequently, you may want to look into modifying the hand crank to accept your drill.

Lifting hardware is simple to install and very effective. On the other hand, the shelf which must be assembled, is poorly designed. It would be so much simpler and sturdier, to use bolts rather than J-hooks. (The J-hooks tend to turn when installed.)

The product appears to be of high quality. The only problem associated with the product was a certain level of difficulty in installation. Additional frameing for the product arms were required and washers for the wood screws were needed. "Be prepared to spend time in the attic.

Product was all that I expected [...]. I bought four of these and have placed then in my garage. I have 12 foot ceilings in my garage so they are higher that the cable capacity but I can get the rack down to 4 feet and it is easy enough for me to load.I would suggest mounting boards perpenicular to your joists vs. installing directly to your ceiling joists to help distribute the load. Its a bit more work but it will lessen your chances of causing structural damage to your house.

The product was as good as advertised and met expectations, but the lag bolts that came with it and which were used to fasten to the ceiling joyces were of inferior quality. I felt that the Lag bolts were a hazard and a danger to anyone who would trust in their ability to hold a load.

THE PLATFORM WENT UP AND DOWN SMOOTHLY, BUT SLOWLY.
IT WOULD BE NICE IF AN ELECTRIC MOTOR COULD BE ATTACHED TO DO THE RAISING AND LOWERING.

This product allowed me to get my lawnmower off of the floor and was much less expensive than a storage shed. I have a 10-foot garage ceiling, so it made sense to go up. Howver, it is very intense to raise the platform. An optional motor would be good.
