Cutter head locks well, little to no snipe. The blades are good but far from great. DeWalt needs to offer some carbide blades for this machine. Overall a solid performer. Good Going DeWalt!

A very nice planer and a good price. Used it on some ash so far with excellent results. The one thing I haven't liked so far is the dust hood attachment. It only works okay with my 1.5 hp dust collector and leaves a small amount of chips behind. It also prevents the outfeed tray from folding up when installed.

I wanted to make mahogany guitar stands for very expensive guitars. I needed precise thickness control for profiled base moldings and exceptional smoothness with no evidence of snipe. The three blade planer delivered on pieces from 3/4" x 1/4" x 16" up to 3" x 10" x 6'. Much smoother than two blade planer I had previously borrowed. The controls are fast, efficient and intuitive. Plenty of power - no bog down on heavy stock. I haven't had to change blades yet so don't know about blade life or ease of replacement but with on board tools I don't expect to be challenged. Again, smoothness is stunning - like glass - literally.
