I have a small shop and this jointer looked like a nice solution with a relatively small footprint and reasonable cost. I regret that I ever purchased this machine, however, because I have been unable to true pieces without inducing a taper. When I took the unit to have the blades removed (I couldn't do it with the tools supplied), the shop informed me that the tables are not level with each other, thus the work piece enters at an angle and cuts a taper. The first unit I bought also had "impossible" blades to remove, so I took it back to the seller and got a replacement. Great!...but the second unit still does not pare uniform amounts off the workpiece. The aluminum tables quickly show scrapes and grooves and do not allow the work to pass smoothly over them, no matter how much wax (or even silicone) I have tried. My advice? Don't waste your money. Get a quality tool that makes accurate cuts and doesn't wear out quickly. Make sure that you can adjust your tool. This one doesn't allow it.
