Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
This is a great 12" compound miter saw. I just used it to put up new chair rail and base shoe, and I had no problems making miter or bevel cuts (sometimes the bevel was easier for the thin chair rail.) My only gripe is there are no positive "locks" on the bevel setting, meaning the bevel cuts won't be perfect for non 0 or 45 degrees without testing it. There is no hard start when turning it on, and the adjustable fence is great. I'd buy this saw again if it ever breaks.
