Poulan 40 cc wild thing chain saw
By David SR from Williamston SC on 2/15/2007
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy To Use
Best Uses:
Outdoors
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this saw a year ago at [...], i cut wood and burn wood. The past 3 or 4 times i used it, when it got good and hot , the saw wouldnt start again untill it cooled off , i used the correct oil mixture with Poulan oil the short life of the saw , also i would clean it after each use, clean or replace the air filter as recomended by poulan. It was a good buy i must say , but Poulan is the name ive known all my life! The last time i used it i cut about an hour , cut it off , and the next time i tried to start it , nothing !!. The compression on the saw was only 23 lbs .It should have been over 100psi, That told me something was wrong, being a Honda technician i could easly diagnose it , i removed the spark plug and muffler to see with a flash light tht the cylender was scalded , or generaly speaking the piston , cylender walls and piston rings were burnt up. I am very disipointed with this saw. I went to our local poulan dealer , talked with them , with the saw and they told me my diagnoises was correct and they had a slew of worn out wild things and other Poulan smaller saws. There also a Husky dealer . I was advised if i wanted a saw that would stay with me to get a husky modal 455 or bigger , because the smaller huskys have poulan parts in them.If $[...] is what you only want to , or can afford then its an ok saw in my openion , for a "yard" saw , mayby to cut down a few small trees . You do get what ya pay for , i also bought an Echo 32 cc saw a mth before i got the bigger 40 cc wildthing. The smaller Echo was $[...] . But it is a much better saw if your going to use it alot. Bottom line is with any saw , you get what ya pay for , and before ya buy check these revievs. Thanx for your time , sorry poulan , im just telling it like it is , Buy a Stihl , Echo or Husky , spend more , get more.David J Durham SR , [...]
