Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
These batteries are durable -- I would use to tap in drywall screws to get them started. My original set lasted over 3.5 years. B & D service said to expect 3-5 years use. I used them hard.
WARNING-I replaced them when one of my original batteries shorted out and destroyed my charger. Check the Black & Decker FAQ on these; they caution against charging when the voltage measures less than 9.5 volts.
