Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We were looking for a converter that would allow our kids to watch DVD's on a long drive. This one was compact, quiet and enough power to easily do what we needed. After reading other consumer comments about units that died after a few hours, I was pleased when this one lasted the 15 hours of use we needed. The built in fan did kick on a few times to keep the unit cool. I expect it will last for many more trips as well. The second socket came in handy, too for our phones and recharging a DS. This was exactly what we wanted for a nice price.
