I purchased the Makita because my previous compressor constantly tripped my circuit breakers. I have not tripped a single breaker with this unit. Although it is portable, it is a bit heavy to be considered truly portable. The overall quality, simplicity, and quietness of the unit make up for the weight. It runs all of my nailguns with no issues, including a framing nailer. Since I downgraded from a larger compressor, I had to give up my DA sander(never used) and my generic brand texture gun. Both were too cfm hungry and barely ran on my previous compressor. The texture gun was easily replaced with a gun that required less cfm from the local home improvement store. If you just want a quality compressor for home remodeling and similar tasks, this is a great choice.
compact, powerful, and very quiet with a quick recovery time. I would have no problem recommending this product to friends.

Although far from the noisiest air compressor I have worked with, this compressor is not as quiet as other reviews have led me to believe. Quiet is possible, my dad's homebuilt unit from scavanged pieces can hardly be heard more than 20 feet away.
The best feature of this compressor for the home user is the short time to usable pressure. The compressor does this by having a fairly small volume tank with a fairly high horsepower motor – this makes it much more likely that I actually keep my tires properly inflated since by the time I drag the hose to my tires, I have usable pressure.
low noise compared to similar size compressors and is smaller in size than similar units with the same air capacity.
