Tile Flange The built-in flanges on this tub prevent water from getting between the bathtub and the wall, ideal in situations where a bath will also be used as a shower. The integral tile flange is an acrylic flange molded into the tub at the factory and is available in a 3-sided flange for a rectangular tub. The tile flange is designed to screw to the stud wall while the backer board rests on top of the flange to provide an even surface for tile. Drop-In Installation Drop-in baths have a finished rim and are designed to drop into a deck or custom surround. One of the advantages of drop-in baths is that they can be installed in corners, peninsulas, islands and recesses, or can be sunk into the floor.
